• Coverage Care meeting CQC standards

The Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care services, register, monitor, inspect and regulate care home services throughout England to make sure that they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety.

Our CQC reports are yet another positive endorsement of the quality service that is being provided throughout our homes and demonstrates our commitment to provide a high standard of person-centred care in a home from home environment.

They publish their findings on each care home, and the reports include performance ratings to help people choose appropriate care for their loved ones.

We are proud of the ratings that we have achieved, where there is a need for improvement we will publish our improvement plan and work with colleagues in the homes to achieve the sustainable improvement required. Sometimes this will involve getting additional support for a service from other homes or our small centrally based quality assurance team.

The quality assurance team expect to visit each home monthly with additional compliance visits and peer audits also being provided. The peer audits have proved particularly useful in sharing contextual learning.

Standards of care

The CQC set out what good and outstanding care should be and they make sure that services meet overall standards in the pursuit of safe, caring, responsive, effective and well-led services. In addition the CQC and indeed we and our commissioners (those who pay for some or all of our services, often the local authority and CCG(s)) set out specific performance standards, these include:

  • Person-centred care
  • Dignity and respect
  • Consent
  • Safety
  • Safeguarding from abuse
  • Food and drink
  • Premises and equipment
  • Complaints
  • Good governance
  • Staffing Fit and proper staff
  • Duty of candour
  • Display of ratings

Full details of these standards & their ratings can be found on the CQC website.

Coverage Care takes great pride in our CQC standards, having regularly been rated 'good' across our 12 homes during inspections. We display our ratings across our main Coverage Care website for each home, and at each of the care homes buildings too.

All of our care, nursing and support staff are trained and professionally qualified appropriate to their respective roles. In additions, they undertake regular development training in all aspects of care for older people. It is this strong company ethos on training and development that helps maintain a good CQC record.

"It was particularly gratifying to see the inspectors recognise how well cared for residents feel and that staff are trained to a particularly high standard to deliver the level of care that we at Coverage Care always strive to give."

Coverage Care are additionally proud to have been recognised as meeting the IIP, ISO9001 and NCF Quality First standards.
