Development and Support Officer
Salary: £34,939 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week (evening and weekend work required)
Location: Shrewsbury, Telford & Wrekin.
Reporting to: Development and Support Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive Development and Support Officer to join our team. This role is key to supporting and developing care teams across our homes, ensuring staff—from new recruits to experienced leaders—are confident, competent, and aligned with our policies and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging inductions for new starters, apprentices, and overseas recruits.
- Provide ongoing support and tailored work plans for staff development.
- Deliver manual handling training and refresher sessions on policies and procedures.
- Upskill care assistants moving into leadership roles.
- Promote teamwork and strong communication across all homes.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in care and staff training/development.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
Essential Experience:
- Social care experience, including working with older people and dementia care.
- Supporting others with administering medicines and safeguarding adults at risk.
- Passing on knowledge and experience to others.
- Leadership experience and ability to lead by example.
Required Qualifications:
- Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Health and Social Care.
- Training qualification to deliver Moving and Handling.
- Risk Assessment training
Desirable Qualifications:
- Train the trainer qualification or equivalent
- Teaching qualification
- Mentoring qualification
